Course objective:  Theology was once considered the queen of the sciences.  While that time has long past—in our churches systematic theology needs to be elevated.  Many of our churches do a reasonably good job of biblical teaching but even when we are teaching through book, chapter, and verse we are sometimes not getting the full picture.  After years of study we can eventually formulate a solid belief system.  Another viable approach is topical study.  We must realize it is also relevant to reference several scriptures to build a case on specific theological topics.  Paul and the writer of Hebrews certainly do this and so should we.  The study of systematic theology helps us to build a framework which allows us to better understand individual scriptures.  The feedback also works the other direction where our Bible study tests our theology.  The goal is to get to the point where none of our beliefs conflict with any part of the Bible.  By working through the “Faith Once for All” we will be introduced to all the major divisions of theology.  The student will become familiar with the topics and much of the vocabulary utilized in systematic theology.  We will also have the textbook for future reference and will come to appreciate the understandable nature with which it was written.  This course will work through the first half of the book, we look to complete the book next semester.
